Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation of verse 3.14.592:

उपमानस्य भेदाच्च बहुषु स्यादञो विधिः ।
कश्यपा इति लोपः स्यात् तथा प्रतिकृतिष्वपि ॥ ५९२ ॥

upamānasya bhedācca bahuṣu syādaño vidhiḥ |
kaśyapā iti lopaḥ syāt tathā pratikṛtiṣvapi || 592 ||

592. If the standard of comparison becomes many, then the suffix would be expressive of the plural and then, even in the sense of images, there would be elision of the suffix in Kāśyapa (resulting in the form Kaśyapāḥ.)

Commentary

[If the number of the standard of comparison follows that of the objects of comparison, there would be an undesirable consequence. According to P. 5.3.99,100, the form Kāśyapaḥ results in the sense of images of Kāśyapa, showing the elision (lup) of kan taught by P. 5.3.96. Here Kāśyapa is the standard of comparison and the images are the objects of comparison If the standard of comparison is more than one because the images are many, then there would be elision of the suffix in Kāśyapa according to P. 2.4.64. and then we would get Kaśyapāḥ and not kāśyapāḥ in the sense of images of Kāśyapa. But Kaśyapāḥ is wrong. The correct form is Kāśyapaḥ. So the word Kāśyapa ending in and denoting the standard of comparison must be taken as ending in the singular number. In other words, the standard of comparison remains one even if the objects of comparison are many.]
