Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation of verse 3.14.72-73:
आक्षेपाच्च प्रयोगेण विषयान्तरवर्तिना ।
सदपीच्छाक्यचः कर्म वाक्य एव प्रयुज्यते ॥ ७२ ॥
प्रसिद्धेन कृतः शब्दो भावगर्हाभिधायिना ।
अभ्यासे तुल्यरूपत्वान्न यङन्तः प्रयुज्यते ॥ ७३ ॥ākṣepācca prayogeṇa viṣayāntaravartinā |
sadapīcchākyacaḥ karma vākya eva prayujyate || 72 ||prasiddhena kṛtaḥ śabdo bhāvagarhābhidhāyinā |
abhyāse tulyarūpatvānna yaṅantaḥ prayujyate || 73 ||72. By the use of the suffix kyac expressive of another idea, the idea in question would be set aside. Therefore, even though the suffix kyac expressive of desire has an object, it is used only in a sentence.
73. The word formed with the suffix Yaṅ (P. 3.1.23.) being reserved for the well-known idea of disapproval of the action, such a word is not used to express repetition, because the form would be the same (and so there might be misunderstanding).

[The expressions lolupyate, caṅkramyate jaṅgamyate, formed with Yaṅ (P. 3. 1. 23 and 24) express the idea of disapproval of conduct or crookedness of the gait. That is why, even though the same suffix is taught in the sense of the repetition of the action, it is not used in that sense as there is a possibility of misunderstanding. To express the idea of repetition, the sentence is used; punaḥ punaḥ krāmati and not the complex formation (vṛtti) caṅkramyate.]
