अक्षादिषु यथा भिन्ना भञ्जिभक्षिदिविक्रियाः ।
प्रयोगकालाभेदेऽपि प्रतिभेदं पृथक् स्थिताः ॥ ४६० ॥
अक्षाणां तन्त्रिणां तन्त्रमुपायस्तुल्यरूपता ।
एषां क्रमो विभक्तानां तन्निबद्धा सकृच्छ्रुतिः ॥ ४६१ ॥
द्वावभ्युपायौ शब्दानां प्रयोगे समवस्थितौ ।
क्रमो वा यौगपद्यं वा यौ लोको नातिर्त्तते ॥ ४६२ ॥
क्रमे विभिद्यते रूपं यौगपद्ये न भिद्यते ।
क्रिया तु यौगपद्येऽपि क्रमरूपानुपातिनी ॥ ४६३ ॥

akṣādiṣu yathā bhinnā bhañjibhakṣidivikriyāḥ |
prayogakālābhede'pi pratibhedaṃ pṛthak sthitāḥ || 460 ||
akṣāṇāṃ tantriṇāṃ tantramupāyastulyarūpatā |
eṣāṃ kramo vibhaktānāṃ tannibaddhā sakṛcchrutiḥ || 461 ||
dvāvabhyupāyau śabdānāṃ prayoge samavasthitau |
kramo vā yaugapadyaṃ vā yau loko nātirttate || 462 ||
krame vibhidyate rūpaṃ yaugapadye na bhidyate |
kriyā tu yaugapadye'pi kramarūpānupātinī || 463 ||

460. Different actions like breaking, eating and playing are connected separately with the accessories, namely, the akṣas even though the latter are conveyed in one utterance and simultaneously.

461. In the case of the three kinds of akṣas conveyed by the same word, the use of the same word is a means (of conveying them at the same time). When they are separately conveyed, there is sequence; the single utterance is for conveying them at the same time and connecting them separately.

462. There are two ways of presenting things through words: sequence or simultaneity. The world does not go beyond them.

463. Where words are used in a sequence, their form varies but not when there is simultaneity. Even when there is simultaneity (in the presentation of the accessories) the action follows sequence.

Commentary

[To say that the action follows sequence means that each action is connected separately with the different accessories.]
