Sarpagandha (सर्पगन्धा) in Nepali refers to the plant Cinnamomum glaucescens or “Indian snakeroot” from the Apocynaceae or “dogbane family”. It is is mentioned as one of the “Protected plants of Nepal”. The photo also depicts a Flower/Leaf (फूल, phul/phūl/phūla/phula, पात, pat/pāt/pāta/pata) and a Root (जरा, jara/jarā).

The word Sarpagandha can also be transliterated as Sarpagandhā.
