1) A word (particle &c.) that is not, or has not the force of, an Upasarga.

2) That which has no Upasarga.

3) That which needs no additions (as) a divine being).

A particle which (or when it) is not an upasarga (q. v.), for instance antar in compounds like antarvaṇa, or abhi, pari in formations like abhisāvakīyati, parisāvakīyati, when abhi and pari do not qualify the radical su but the denom. sāvakīyati. E. a neg. and upasarga. Ii. [bahuvrihi compound] m.
