2. Ancient Jaina Texts

• Samayasara, Acarya KundakundaSamayasara (The Nature of the Self) has 439 verses. Its ten parts examine the idea of Jiva (unadulterated self/soul), its connection to Karma and Moksha (freedom). Samayasara elucidates the Jain ideas like Karma, Asrava (convergence of karmas), Bandha (Bondage), Samvara (stoppage), Nirjara (shedding) and Moksha (complete obliteration of karmas).

• Pancastikaya, Acarya Kundakunda–The creator clarifies the Jain ideas of dravya (substance) and Ethics. The work fills in as a concise form of the Jaina theory.
