Explanation in English from Ācārya Pūjyapāda’s Sarvārthasiddhi:
In order to ward off the error of taking these respectively, the exception is mentioned next.
The second type–ekatvavitarka–must be understood to be free from shifting or oscillation–avīcāra. This is the purport. The first–pṛthaktvavitarka–is associated with both, scriptural knowledge–vitarka, and shifting–vīcāra. The second–ekatvavitarka–is associated with scriptural knowledge–vitarka, but not with shifting–vīcāra.
