Verse 3.16 - The depth of the first lake

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation of Tattvartha sūtra 3.16:

दशयोजनावगाहः ॥ ३.१६ ॥

daśayojanāvagāhaḥ || 3.16 ||

The depth (avagāha) of the first lake is ten yojana. (16)

Hindi Anvayarth:

अन्वयार्थ: पहिला सरोवर दश योजन अवगाह (गहराई) वाला है।

Anvayartha: pahila sarovara dasha yojana avagaha (gaharai) vala hai |

Explanation in English from Ācārya Pūjyapāda’s Sarvārthasiddhi:

‘Avagāha’ is depth. The depth of lake Padma is ten yojana. What is in the middle of it?
