Will my world turn monochrome
And all the naughty colours flutter away?
The patchwork quilt of my imagination
Has been spread cautiously in the sun
To save it from mildew and bugs
To fluff up the dull cotton inside
To tone up the sagging outer cover
My mind acts as the scare crow
Fearful of any carrion bird
Soiling my richly-textured blessing.
The distant sun seems to cover
The medley of irresistible colours
Sprawled lazily across the quilt
Like lovely ladies of a high-walled harem.
The sun returns to its western camp.
In the moonless night the quilt
Loses again its truant range of hues.
My desperate self has to trust
The ardent sun and display
The precious quilt before its gaze.
As the shafts of light pierce them,
Colours vibrate with more nuances.
