(Translated from Bengali by Gopal Bhaumik)
Please come to my land, dear,
I have got a home ready for You;
I have estranged my kith and kin,
Only for your sake, dear.
Daily do I see you at the ghat filling Your pitcher,
A veritable Naiad of the stream that you are:
And my boat sailing upwards the stream
Stops of itself at your dear sight.
Please step into my boat, girl,
You have nothing to fear from me:
Be not cruel-hearted, dear,
Come away with me;
I shall lay down my life at your red feet
And the boat of our life will sail along more easily.
