He will Appear

The Tiny Grass-Flower , From Telugu by the Poet Kavukondala Venkata Rao

SO SPAKE THE MOTHER1

Clasping the pillar in yonder court,

You ask, 'Where does your son now sport?'

I know not what may be his haunts.

My womb's the cavernous lair wherein had lain

The tiger-cub and whence it's sped. But, hear,

Right on the field of battle he will appear.

Rendered from TAMIL by

T. G. ARAVAMUTHAN.

1 This poem is found in the Pura-nanuru, (86), an anthology about eighteen centuries old. The name of the poet is not known.
