Proper Food for Yogins

The Mārkaṇḍeyapurāṇa recommends the alms consisting of [the following as the useful foods for Yogins]:[1]

  1. Yavāgū (rice-gull),
  2. butter milk,
  3. milk,
  4. barley-gruel,
  5. fruits,
  6. roots,
  7. panic
  8. seed,
  9. grain,
  10. oil cake,
  11. saktu food etc.

The Yogins are advised to eat warm rice gruel mixed with oil which can help in curing the gastric problem.[2]
