The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.3.23

सर्गस्तु सर्गशब्दार्थतया बुद्धो नयत्यधः ।
स ब्रह्मशब्दार्थतया बुद्धः श्रेयो भवत्यलम् ॥ २३ ॥

sargastu sargaśabdārthatayā buddho nayatyadhaḥ |
sa brahmaśabdārthatayā buddhaḥ śreyo bhavatyalam || 23 ||

To understand the creation as something different from Brahma, leads man apart from Him; but to take it as synonymous with Brahma, leads him to his felicity.
