Verse 3.14.17
Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation of verse 3.14.17:
क्रियाभेदेन दृष्टानामश्मादिनां पुनः पुनः ।
किञ्चिद् दर्शनमन्येन दर्शनेनापदिश्यते ॥ १७ ॥kriyābhedena dṛṣṭānāmaśmādināṃ punaḥ punaḥ |
kiñcid darśanamanyena darśanenāpadiśyate || 17 ||17. When a stone etc. previously seen again and again as associated with various operations, is cognised in connection with a particular operation, this cognition is qualified by the previous cognitions.
Commentary
[A grindstone, associated with various actions in the past is presented in the expression idaṃ śilāputrakasya śarīram as associated with a particular action or state. It is the same grindstone but it is now presented as something different. This is also an act of the mind.]
It is now stated that in a similar manner the root i(ṇ) is looked upon as ekāc = having one vowel.
