Verse 3.9.19
Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation of verse 3.9.19:
अथास्मान्नियमादूर्ध्वं जातयो याः प्रयोजिकाः ।
ताः सर्वा व्यक्तिमायान्ति स्वच्छे छाया इवाम्भसि ॥ १९ ॥athāsmānniyamādūrdhvaṃ jātayo yāḥ prayojikāḥ |
tāḥ sarvā vyaktimāyānti svacche chāyā ivāmbhasi || 19 ||19. Further, after the determination of the effect all the prompting universals, manifest themselves in it, like reflections in clear water.
Commentary
[The prompting universals inhere in the effects at the time of their birth. They appear to be identical with the effect in which they inhere. By sarvāḥ, what is meant is that in an object like, say, a jar, it is not only ghaṭatva which inheres but also the universals sattā, dravyatva and pṛthivītva.]
