Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation of verse 1.150:
न शिष्टैरनुगम्यन्ते पर्याया इव साधवः ।
ते यतः स्मृतिशास्त्रेण तस्मात्साक्षादवाचकाः ॥ १५० ॥na śiṣṭairanugamyante paryāyā iva sādhavaḥ |
te yataḥ smṛtiśāstreṇa tasmātsākṣādavācakāḥ || 150 ||150. Since they are not explained like correct synonyms by cultured people in the written Tradition (smṛtiśāstra), therefore, they are not directly expressive.
