The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.3.100; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

स्वर-भेदादि चतुष्कं, यथा —
प्रविष्टवति माधवे भुजग-राज-भाजं ह्रदं
तदीय-सुहृदस् तदा पृथुल-वेपथु-व्याकुलाः ।
विवर्ण-वपुषः क्षणाद् विकट-घर्घर-ध्मायिनो
निपत्य निकट-स्थली-भुवि सुषुप्तिम् आरेभिरे ॥३.३.१००॥svara-bhedādi catuṣkaṃ, yathā —
praviṣṭavati mādhave bhujaga-rāja-bhājaṃ hradaṃ
tadīya-suhṛdas tadā pṛthula-vepathu-vyākulāḥ |
vivarṇa-vapuṣaḥ kṣaṇād vikaṭa-gharghara-dhmāyino
nipatya nikaṭa-sthalī-bhuvi suṣuptim ārebhire ||3.3.100||
English translation
Trembling, change of color, choking of the voice, fainting:
“When Kṛṣṇa entered into Kāliya’s lake, the friends became afflicted with trembling. They lost their color and could not speak properly for some time. They fell on the ground and became unconscious.”
