मनः-प्रसादः सौम्यत्वं मौनम् आत्म-विनिग्रहः ।
भाव-संशुद्धिर् इत्य् एतत् तपो मानसम् उच्यते ॥ १६ ॥

manaḥ-prasādaḥ saumyatvaṃ maunam ātma-vinigrahaḥ |
bhāva-saṃśuddhir ity etat tapo mānasam ucyate
|| 16 ||

manaḥ-prasādaḥ–mental satisfaction; saumyatvam–simplicity; maunam–silence; ātma-vinigrahaḥ–discipline of the mind; bhāva-saṃśuddhiḥ–non-duplicitous behaviour; iti–as follows; etat–this; tapaḥ–austerity; mānasam–of the mind; ucyate–is said to be.

Austerities of the mind consist of satisfaction, simplicity, silence, maintaining mental discipline and non-duplicitous behaviour.
