The Grihya-sutra ascribed to Shankhayana, which has been edited and translated into German in the XVth volume of the "Indische Studien", is based on the first of the four Vedas, the Rig-veda in the Bashkala recension, and among the Brahmana texts, on the Kaushitaka. Adhyāya V, Khaṇḍa 7

1[1]. If (his wife) gives birth to a child, without the Sīmantonnayana having been performed,

2[2]. (Or if) the Jātakarman has not been performed (for the child),

3[3]. He places, when ten days have elapsed since (the delivery), the little child in the mother's lap,

4. And after he has sacrificed with the Mahāvyāhṛtis, the sacrifice (that had been omitted, is performed) as (stated) above.
