ई॒युरर्थं॒ न न्य॒र्थं परु॑ष्णीमा॒शुश्च॒नेद॑भिपि॒त्वं ज॑गाम । सु॒दास॒ इन्द्र॑: सु॒तुकाँ॑ अ॒मित्रा॒नर॑न्धय॒न्मानु॑षे॒ वध्रि॑वाचः ॥
ईयुरर्थं न न्यर्थं परुष्णीमाशुश्चनेदभिपित्वं जगाम । सुदास इन्द्रः सुतुकाँ अमित्रानरन्धयन्मानुषे वध्रिवाचः ॥
īyur arthaṃ na nyartham paruṣṇīm āśuś caned abhipitvaṃ jagāma | sudāsa indraḥ sutukām̐ amitrān arandhayan mānuṣe vadhrivācaḥ ||
English translation:
“The waters followed their regular course to the Paruṣṇi, nor (wandered) beyond it; the quick courser(of the king) came to the accessible plural ces, and Indra made the idly-talking enemies, with their numerousprogeny, subject among men (to Sudāsa).”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Indra is said to have repaired the banks of the river so that thewaters -- iyur artham na nyartham-- went to their object, that is, their former bed, not below or beyond it; theenemies Amitrān are called vadhrivācaḥ or jalpakān
