स वृ॑त्र॒हेन्द्र॑: कृ॒ष्णयो॑नीः पुरंद॒रो दासी॑रैरय॒द्वि । अज॑नय॒न्मन॑वे॒ क्षाम॒पश्च॑ स॒त्रा शंसं॒ यज॑मानस्य तूतोत् ॥
स वृत्रहेन्द्रः कृष्णयोनीः पुरंदरो दासीरैरयद्वि । अजनयन्मनवे क्षामपश्च सत्रा शंसं यजमानस्य तूतोत् ॥
sa vṛtrahendraḥ kṛṣṇayonīḥ puraṃdaro dāsīr airayad vi | ajanayan manave kṣām apaś ca satrā śaṃsaṃ yajamānasya tūtot ||
English translation:
“Indra, the slayer of Vṛtra, the destroyer of cities, has scattered the black-sprung servile (hosts); he engendered the earth and the waters for Manu; may he fulfill the entire prayer of the sacrificer.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Has scattered the black-sprung servile hosts: kṛṣnayonir dāsīr airyad vi, he scattered the sacrifice-disturbing asura armies {kṛṣṇayoni = nikṛṣṭa jāti;
Dāsī = upakṣapayitrī, āsurī senā (army}; another interpretation: pregnant wife of the asura named kṛṣṇa (yaḥ kṛṣṇāgarbhāḥ nirahanṛjiśvanā: RV 1.101.1)
