Rig Veda 2.5.1

होता॑जनिष्ट॒ चेत॑नः पि॒ता पि॒तृभ्य॑ ऊ॒तये॑ । प्र॒यक्ष॒ञ्जेन्यं॒ वसु॑ श॒केम॑ वा॒जिनो॒ यम॑म् ॥
होताजनिष्ट चेतनः पिता पितृभ्य ऊतये । प्रयक्षञ्जेन्यं वसु शकेम वाजिनो यमम् ॥
hotājaniṣṭa cetanaḥ pitā pitṛbhya ūtaye | prayakṣañ jenyaṃ vasu śakema vājino yamam ||

English translation:

“An invoker (of the gods), our instrumental uctor and protector has been born for the preservation of our patrons; may we, possessed of (sacrificial) food, be able to acquire worshipful, conquerable, and manageable riches.”

Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya

An invoker of the gods: hotā; in this and following hymn, Agni is addressed, identified with or person nified by, several of the individual priests employed at sacrifices; for the preservation of our patrons: pitṛbhyaḥ ūtaye, for protection to the pitṛs; pitr. = pālaka, or yajamāna, the patron or instrumental tutor of the sacrifice
