Summary: This is the English translation of the Mandukya Karika by Gaudapada, which is a commentary on the Mandukya Upanishad. The school of philosophy this book attempts to expose is ‘Advaita Vedanta’, a non-dualistic path to spiritual realization of the self.

Many of the verses from the Karika attempt to illustrate the identification of the Atman (self) with Brahman (god), and that there exists no distinction or seperateness. It does so by (among others) drawing various examples from Shruti and Smriti sources.

This book contains the English translation of Shankara’s commentary, or bhashya.

This book also includes Anandagiri’s Tika, a sub-commentary further explaining the terms used in the Bhashya on the Karika.
