The Garga-samhita Verse 6.19.35, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 6 of Chapter 19 (In the First Fortress of Dvaraka, the Glories of Lila-sarovara, Hari-mandira, Jnana-tirtha, Krishna-kunda, Balabhadra-sarah, Ganesha-tirtha, Dana-sthala, and Maya-tirtha) of Canto 6 (dvaraka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

अन्न-दान-समं दानं
न भूतं न भविश्यति
देवर्शि-पितृ-भूतानां
तृप्तिर् अन्नेन जायते

anna-dāna-samaṃ dānaṃ
na bhūtaṃ na bhaviśyati
devarśi-pitṛ-bhūtānāṃ
tṛptir annena jāyate

anna-dāna-samamequal to giving food; dānamcharity; na—not; bhūtam— has been; na—not; bhaviśyati—will be; devarśi-pitṛ-bhūtānām—the demigods, sages, pitās, and bhūtas; tṛptiḥsatisfaction; annena—by food; jāyate—is born.

English translation of verse 6.19.35:

There never has been nor will there ever be another charity as good as giving food. The demigods, sages, pitās and bhūtas are all pleased by a gift of food.
