The Garga-samhita Verse 5.11.13, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 5 of Chapter 11 (The Stories of Kubja and Kuvalayapida) of Canto 5 (mathura-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

श्री-नारद उवाच
बलि-पुत्रो महा-कायो
नाम्ना मन्दगतिर् बली
सर्व-शस्त्र-भृतां श्रेष्ठो
लक्ष-नाग-समो बली

śrī-nārada uvāca
bali-putro mahā-kāyo
nāmnā mandagatir balī
sarva-śastra-bhṛtāṃ śreṣṭho
lakṣa-nāga-samo balī

śrī-nārada uvāca—Śrī Nārada said; bali-putraḥthe son of Bali; mahā-kāyaḥwith a great body; nāmnā—by name; mandagatiḥ—Mandagati; balīpowerful; sarva-śastra-bhṛtām—of they who wield weapons; śreṣṭhaḥ—the best; lakṣa-nāga-samaḥ—equal to a hundred thousand elephants; balī—strong.

English translation of verse 5.11.13:

Śrī Nārada said: Bali Mahārāja's son was a giant named Mandagati. Strong as a hundred thousand elephants, he was the best of warriors bearing weapons.
