The Garga-samhita Verse 2.13.18, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 2 of Chapter 13 (The Story of Shesha) of Canto 2 (vrindavana-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

तासां कद्रूश् च या श्रेष्ठा
साद्यैव रोहिणी स्मृता
वसुदेव-प्रिया यस्यां
बलदेवो ऽभवत् सुतः

tāsāṃ kadrūś ca yā śreṣṭhā
sādyaiva rohiṇī smṛtā
vasudeva-priyā yasyāṃ
baladevo 'bhavat sutaḥ

tāsām—of them; kadrūḥKadrū; ca—and; yā—who; śreṣṭhāthe best; sā—she; adyanow; eva—even; rohiṇīas Rohiṇī; smṛtā—is known; vasudeva-priyādear to King Vasudeva; yasyām—in whom; baladevaḥ—Balarāma; abhavat—became; sutaḥ—the son.

English translation of verse 2.13.18:

Kadrū was the best of them. Today Kadrū is Rohiṇī. She is dear to Mahārāja Vasudeva. Lord Balarāma was born as her son.
