शनैर् उपससारेशं
प्रसीदेति वदन् नमन्
स्रवद्-वर्षाश्रु-दत्तार्घः
स पपाताथा दण्डवत्
śanair upasasāreśaṃ
prasīdeti vadan naman
sravad-varṣāśru-dattārghaḥ
sa papātāthā daṇḍavat
śanaiḥ—slowly; upasasāra—approached; īśam—the Lord; prasīda—be kind; iti—thus; vadan—saying; naman—bowing down; sravat—flowing; varṣa—shower; aśru—tears; datta—offered; ārghaḥ—arghya; sa—he; papāta—fell down; athā—then; daṇḍavat—like a stick.
English translation of verse 2.8.49:
Slowly he approached the Lord. Saying, "Please be kind", bowing down, and with a streams of tears offering arghya, he fell down like a stick.
