The Garga-samhita Verse 1.17.12, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 17 (Description of the Yogurt Theft) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

तस्माद् दानं तु कर्तव्यं
विघ्नानां नाश-हेतवे
गो-विप्र-सुर-साधूनां

tasmād dānaṃ tu kartavyaṃ
vighnānāṃ nāśa-hetave
go-vipra-sura-sādhūnāṃ

छन्दसं पूजनं तथा

chandasaṃ pūjanaṃ tathā

tasmāt—therefore; dānamcharity; tu—certainly; kartavyam—should be given; vighnānām—of obstacles; nāśadestruction; hetave—for the cause; gaḥ—tp the cows; viprabrāhmaṇas; surademigods; sādhūnām—and saintly devotees; chandasam—Vedic mantras; pūjanam—worship; tathā—so.

English translation of verse 1.17.12:

Therefore, to destroy all obstacles you should give charity, chant Vedic prayers, and worship the cows, brāhmaṇas, demigods, and saintly devotees.
