तस्माद् दानं तु कर्तव्यं
विघ्नानां नाश-हेतवे
गो-विप्र-सुर-साधूनां
tasmād dānaṃ tu kartavyaṃ
vighnānāṃ nāśa-hetave
go-vipra-sura-sādhūnāṃ
छन्दसं पूजनं तथा
chandasaṃ pūjanaṃ tathā
tasmāt—therefore; dānam—charity; tu—certainly; kartavyam—should be given; vighnānām—of obstacles; nāśa—destruction; hetave—for the cause; gaḥ—tp the cows; vipra—brāhmaṇas; sura—demigods; sādhūnām—and saintly devotees; chandasam—Vedic mantras; pūjanam—worship; tathā—so.
English translation of verse 1.17.12:
Therefore, to destroy all obstacles you should give charity, chant Vedic prayers, and worship the cows, brāhmaṇas, demigods, and saintly devotees.
