अदृष्टे च यदा पुत्रे
पतिता भुवि मूर्छिता
उच्चै रुरोद करुणं
मृत-वत्सा यथा हि गौः
adṛṣṭe ca yadā putre
patitā bhuvi mūrchitā
uccai ruroda karuṇaṃ
mṛta-vatsā yathā hi gauḥ
adṛṣṭe—not seen; ca—also; yadā—when; putre—her son; patitā—fallen; bhuvi—on the ground; mūrchitā—fainted; uccaiḥ—loudly; ruroda—cried; karuṇaṃpitifully; mṛta—died; vatsā—whose calf; yathā—as; hi—indeed; gauḥ—a cow.
English translation of verse 1.14.30:
When she did not see her son, she fell to the ground unconscious. She loudly and pitifully wept, like a cow whose calf has died.
