The Garga-samhita Verse 1.11.50, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 11 (Description of Shri Krishnacandra’s Birth) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

सुतं सुतां वा जातं चा-
ज्ञात्वा गोपी यशोमती
परिश्रान्ता स्व-शयने
सुष्वापानन्द-निद्रया

sutaṃ sutāṃ vā jātaṃ cā-
jñātvā gopī yaśomatī
pariśrāntā sva-śayane
suṣvāpānanda-nidrayā

sutam—a son; sutām—a daughter; vā—or; jātam—born; ca—also; ajñātvā—not knowing; gopī—the gopī; yaśomatī—Yaśodā; pariśrāntā—exhausted; sva-śayane—on her bed; suṣvāpa—slept; ānandaof bliss; nidrayā—with a sleep.

English translation of verse 1.11.50:

Not knowing whether a son or daughter had been born, exhausted Yaśodā-gopī slept in bed with a sleep of bliss.
