The Garga-samhita Verse 1.5.13, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 5 (The Lord’s Appearance) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

समुद्र-कन्याः श्री-मत्स्यं
हरिं दृट्ट्वा च मोहिताः
ता हि गोप्यो भविष्यन्ति
श्री-मत्स्यस्य वराद् व्रजे

samudra-kanyāḥ śrī-matsyaṃ
hariṃ dṛṭṭvā ca mohitāḥ
tā hi gopyo bhaviṣyanti
śrī-matsyasya varād vraje

samudra-kanyāḥ—the daughters of Varuṇa; śrī-matsyam—Śrī Matsya; harim—

Lord Harim; dṛṭṭvā—having seen; ca—and; mohitāḥ—enchanted; tāḥ—they; hi—

indeed; gopygopīs; bhaviṣyanti—will become; śrī-matsyasya—of Śrī Matsya;

varāt—by the benediction; vraje—in Vraja.

When Varuṇa's daughters saw Lord Hari as Śrī Matsya, they became bewildered with love for Him. By Lord Matsya's benediction they will become gopīs in Vraja.
