श्री-भगवान् उवाच
नन्दोपनन्द-भवने
श्रीदामा सुबलः सखा
स्तोक-कृष्णो ऽर्जुनो ऽंशुश् च
नव-नन्द-गृहे विधे
śrī-bhagavān uvāca
nandopananda-bhavane
śrīdāmā subalaḥ sakhā
stoka-kṛṣṇo 'rjuno 'ṃśuś ca
nava-nanda-gṛhe vidhe
śrī-bhagavān uvāca—the Supreme Personality of Godhead said; nanda—of Nanda; upananda—and Upananda; bhavane—in the home; śrīdāmā—Śrīdāmā; subalaḥ—Subala; sakhā—friends; stoka-kṛṣṇaḥ—Stoka-kṛṣṇa; arjunaḥ—Arjuna; aṃśaḥ—partial expansions; ca—also; nava—new; nanda—of Nanda; gṛhe—in the home; vidhe—O Brahmā.
English translation of verse 1.4.1:
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: My friends Śrīdāmā and Subala will take birth in the homes of Nanda and Upananda. Stoka-kṛṣṇa, Arjuna, and Aṃśu will take birth in the nine homes of Nanda's relatives.
