Cidgaganacandrika 240 [Kali consumes Agni, who emerges from Surya], English comparative study extracted from the two available commentaries—the Divyacakorika and the Kramaprakashika. The Cidgagana-candrika is an important Tantric work belonging to the Krama system of Kashmir Shaivism. Written by Kalidasa (Shrivatsa) in 312 Sanskrit verses, it deals with the knowledge regarding both the Macrocosmic and Microcosmic phenomena

भर्गनाम्न इह भारवेः शिखा शक्तिरम्ब विषयेन्धनोन्मुखी ।
शान्तिधामजुषि याति निर्वृतिं त्वय्यसौ खलु शिवैकपावके ॥ २४० ॥

bharganāmna iha bhāraveḥ śikhā śaktiramba viṣayendhanonmukhī |
śāntidhāmajuṣi yāti nirvṛtiṃ tvayyasau khalu śivaikapāvake || 240 ||

Sūrya’s image produces a reflection of Agni in full lustre. The image and the reflections are also counted as subject matter in Krama system. Agni and Sūrya get their power to shine from Prakāśa aspect of Śakti (Śiva)[1]. Parābindu svarūpā Śakti gives rise to Sūrya, who rises and sets with his rays throwing light on the entire creation during day. He produces Agni, to do this duty of illumination in night. Śakti herself swallows these two lustres into her brilliance. Thus through proper inner pursuit for knowledge the Sādhaka attains the source of illumination.
