Verse 2.1.325

Bengali text, Devanagari and Unicode transliteration of verse 2.1.325:

পডুযা সকলে বলে,—“ধাতু-সংজ্ঞা কার্?” প্রভু বলে,—“শ্রী-কৃষ্ণের শক্তি নাম যার ॥ ৩২৫ ॥

पडुया सकले बले,—“धातु-संज्ञा कार्?” प्रभु बले,—“श्री-कृष्णेर शक्ति नाम यार ॥ ३२५ ॥

paḍuyā sakale bale,—“dhātu-saṃjñā kār?” prabhu bale,—“śrī-kṛṣṇera śakti nāma yāra || 325 ||

paduya sakale bale,—“dhatu-samjna kar?” prabhu bale,—“sri-krsnera sakti nama yara (325)

English translation:

(325) The students inquired, “What is the definition of dhātu, or verbal root?” The Lord replied, “That which is called Kṛṣṇa’s energy.

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

In answer to the students’ questions, the Lord said, “Since Kṛṣṇa’s parā (antaraṅgā or svarūpa) śakti manifests Kṛṣṇa’s audārya, mādhurya, and aiśvarya spiritual pastimes, the energy and the energetic are thus inseparably related to each other. Similarly, when words are derived by grammatical construction, the original root form of each such expressive word manifests within itself an inseparably joined meaning or potency of expression.
