This is a sculpture showing Sri Rama and Laksmana. Sri Rama is the bigger figure. He is in Ayata Sthana, in Abhanga posture holding an arrow with his right hand and holding his bow Kodanda with his left hand. Laksmana is on the left of Sri Rama, his hands are in Anjali, his Siras in Ancita, waiting for order from Rama.

Kumbakonam is considered as one of the holiest places in Tamil Nadu and is known for its temples and Mathas (monasteries which were centres of Brahmanical learning). These photographs depict the connection between the sculptures in the temples and Natya Shastra and related texts dealing with iconography.
