Varadaraja Perumal is seen here with his consorts Sridevi to his right and Bhudevi to his left. Varadaraja Perumal has Caturbhuja, his main right hand is in Abhaya Mudra, his main left hand is in Uru Hasta. His back right and left hands are holding Cakra and Sankha respectively. Sridevi is to his right. Her left hand is holding a lotus and her right hand is in Lata. Bhumidevi is standing to his left. Her right hand is holding Padma and her right hand is in Lata. Varadaraja Perumal is in Samabhanga or Brahma Sthana. Sridevi is in Ayata Sthana and Bhudevi is in Avahittha Sthana.

Kumbakonam is considered as one of the holiest places in Tamil Nadu and is known for its temples and Mathas (monasteries which were centres of Brahmanical learning). These photographs depict the connection between the sculptures in the temples and Natya Shastra and related texts dealing with iconography.
