Siras is in Nihancita.Urah [uras] is in Nirbhugna. Parsva and Kati are straight, Uru is in Stambhana, Janu is in Sama, Jangha is unbent and straight, Pada are Sama.

This can be identified as Lina according to whose description, “After making the Urdhvamandala movement, the hands take the Anjali pose on the chest. The humps of the shoulders are raised in Nihancita in which the neck is bent down.”

Kumbakonam is considered as one of the holiest places in Tamil Nadu and is known for its temples and Mathas (monasteries which were centres of Brahmanical learning). These photographs depict the connection between the sculptures in the temples and Natya Shastra and related texts dealing with iconography.
