Vāsanakleśa (वासनक्लेश) refers to the “defilement of habitual tendency”, according to the Gaganagañjaparipṛcchā: the eighth chapter of the Mahāsaṃnipāta (a collection of Mahāyāna Buddhist Sūtras).—Accordingly, “Then, the Lord went on to speak these verses: ‘(77) Insight cuts off wrong views (darśana), darkness (andhakāra) and vices (kleśa), removes the defilement of habitual tendency (vāsanakleśa), reveals causes, conditions, effects, and eliminates all extremes (sarvānta). [...]’”.
