Valg (वल्ग्).—1 U. (valgati-te, valgita)

1) To go, move, shake; वल्गतः शत्रुमभितः (valgataḥ śatrumabhitaḥ) Bhāgavata 1.44.1; वल्गद्गरीयःस्तनकम्प्रकञ्चुकम् (valgadgarīyaḥstanakamprakañcukam) Śiśupālavadha 12.2.

2) To leap, bounce, bound, go by leaps, gallop (fig. also); वल्गु वल्गन्ति सूक्तयः (valgu valganti sūktayaḥ) Pañcatantra (Bombay) 1.62.

2) To dance, prance; द्वारे हेमविभूषणाश्च तुरगा वल्गन्ति यद् दर्पिताः (dvāre hemavibhūṣaṇāśca turagā valganti yad darpitāḥ) Bhartṛhari 3.148;2.125; Śiśupālavadha 18.53.

4) To be pleased; Bk. 13.28.

5) To eat; निर्जिताखिलमहार्णवौषधिस्यन्दसारममृतं ववल्गिरे (nirjitākhilamahārṇavauṣadhisyandasāramamṛtaṃ vavalgire) Śiśupālavadha 14.29.

6) To swagger, vaunt; विद्यासद्मविनिर्गलत्कणमुषो वल्गन्ति चेत् पामराः (vidyāsadmavinirgalatkaṇamuṣo valganti cet pāmarāḥ) Bv.1.72.
