Nursing service is of ten types, namely:
- that given to the head of congregation (ācārya),
- that given to the teacher ascetic (upādhyāya),
- that given to the penances (tapasvi),
- that given to the disciple (śaikṣa),
- that given to the ailing ascetic (glāna),
- that given to the congregation of aged ascetics (gaṇa),
- that given to the congregation of the disciples of one teacher /preceptor (kula),
- that given to congregation of the four orders of monks, nuns, votary men and votary women (saṃgha),
- that given to the long time ascetic (sādhu),
- that given to the saint of high reputation (manojña).
Jainism is an Indian religion of Dharma whose doctrine revolves around harmlessness (ahimsa) towards every living being. The two major branches (Digambara and Svetambara) of Jainism stimulate self-control (or, shramana, ‘self-reliance’) and spiritual development through a path of peace for the soul to progess to the ultimate goal.
