General definition (in Jainism)
Source: academia.edu: Tessitori Collection IThūlibhadrasajjhāya (थूलिभद्रसज्झाय) is the name of a work by Labdhivijaya dealing with Jain universal history such as the lives of early Jain teachers.—The Thūlibhadrasajjhāya (in Hindi) is included in the collection of manuscripts at the ‘Vincenzo Joppi’ library, collected by Luigi Pio Tessitori during his visit to Rajasthan between 1914 and 1919.—The Thūlibhadrasajjhāya is a lively song about the love between Sthūlibhadra and the courtezan Kośā. When Sthūlibhadra decided to leave after he had heard the news of his father’s death, she was left alone and expressed her sadness as a virahiṇī. When Sthūlibhadra came back after some months for spending the rainy-season, she adorned herself and was full of joy, but the monk did not break his vow of celibacy and awakened Kośā who accepted right faith.
Jainism is an Indian religion of Dharma whose doctrine revolves around harmlessness (ahimsa) towards every living being. The two major branches (Digambara and Svetambara) of Jainism stimulate self-control (or, shramana, ‘self-reliance’) and spiritual development through a path of peace for the soul to progess to the ultimate goal.
