Śoṇitaja (शोणितज) or Śoṇitajavraṇa refers to “wounds caused by the derangement in rakta”, according to Āyurveda sections in the Garuḍapurāṇa.—In Garuḍapurāṇa the vraṇa (ulcers/wounds) are classified broadly into two types based on the causative factors i.e.: (1) Āgantuja-vraṇa and (2) Doṣaja-vraṇa. They are sub classified based on the type of Doṣa, [e.g., Śoṇitajavraṇa or Raktajavraṇa—The ulcers / wounds caused due to the derangement in rakta. The main characteristic feature is Manda vedanā (mild pain)] [...].
