Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationŚivavidveṣin (शिवविद्वेषिन्) refers to a “person who hates Śiva”, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.3.28 (“Description of the fraudulent words of the Brahmacārin”).—Accordingly, as Pārvatī said to Śiva (in guise of a Brahmacārin): “[...] If, out of ignorance of His reality, any one were to discredit Śiva, his merit hoarded ever since birth becomes reduced to ashes. You have censured Śiva of immeasurable splendour and I have worshiped you, hence I have become sinful. On seeing a person who hates Śiva (śivavidveṣin) one should take bath along with one’s clothes. On seeing a person who hates Śiva one should perform expiatory rites”.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences.
