sāṇḍaṇēṃ (सांडणें).—v c (ṣada S) To spill, shed, cast; to cause, by agitation or otherwise, to fall out of or from: also to overturn or to agitate unto spilling or shedding (the vessel). 2 To lose by dropping, mislaying, misplacing. 3 To cast away; to get rid of; to give up; to shake off; to drop. Ex. baḷakaṭa ghāluniyā kāsa || sāṇḍī nāśavantācī āsa ||.

sāṇḍaṇēṃ (सांडणें).—n The food, grain &c. which is waved around a person to avert the evils which may be impending over him; also to eject or draw off the evil spirit which may be afflicting him. These materials, together with the potshard containing them, are then cast forth into a burning ground or upon the public road. v ṭāka. Ex. gaṇḍē bhāla- dōṛyā āpalyā hātīṃ || mulācyā gaḷyānta bāndhitī || sāṇḍaṇīṃ ṭākatī nānā rīti || mamatā cittīṃ anivāra ||. Ex. kōṭyānakōṭi mīnakētana || sāṃ0 hōta nakhāvarūna ||.
