Samyaktvārya (सम्यक्त्वार्य) refers to “civilized people with right faith” and represents one of the five classes of āryas without extraordinary powers (ṛddhi). These Ārya (civilized people) represent one of the two classes of human beings, according to the 2nd-century Tattvārthasūtra 3.46. Who are called with right faith (samyaktva-ārya). The persons with right faith and who are not observing the vows are called civilized persons with right faith (samyaktva-ārya).

How many subtypes of civilized people with right belief (samyaktva-ārya) are there? They are of six types namely with right belief:

  1. in the orders of omniscient (ājñā),
  2. in the path of emancipation (mārga),
  3. in the sermons of omniscient (upadeśa),
  4. develops right belief from aphorism (sutra),
  5. subtle meanings of aphorism (bīja),
  6. from brief descriptions of aphorism (saṅkṣepa),
  7. from detailed explanations of the aphorism (vistāra),
  8. without detailed explanations (artha),
  9. omniscient firmly (avagātiha),
  10. firm belief and have attained special spiritual purification (paramavagātiha).
