Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarRūpap (रूपप्).—tad. affix in the sense of 'praise' which is, in fact, possessed by the word to which the affix रूपप् (rūpap) is added, without making any change in the sense of the word, the affix being called 'स्वार्थे (svārthe)' i. e. an affix in the sense of the base or प्रकृति (prakṛti) cf.स्वार्थिकाः प्रत्ययाः प्रकृत्यर्थविशेषस्य द्योतका भवन्ति । प्रशस्तो वैयाकरणो वैयाकरणरूपः । याज्ञिकरूपः । प्रकृत्यर्थस्य वैशिष्ट्ये प्रशंसा भवति । वृषलरूपोयं यः पलाण्डुना सुरां पिबति । चोररूपः । (svārthikāḥ pratyayāḥ prakṛtyarthaviśeṣasya dyotakā bhavanti | praśasto vaiyākaraṇo vaiyākaraṇarūpaḥ | yājñikarūpaḥ | prakṛtyarthasya vaiśiṣṭye praśaṃsā bhavati | vṛṣalarūpoyaṃ yaḥ palāṇḍunā surāṃ pibati | corarūpaḥ |) Kāś. on P. Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
