puṭhā (पुठा) [or ठ्ठा, ṭhṭhā].—m (pṛṣṭha S through H) A buttock or cheek;--used of beasts. 2 A term for a single horse (in dealing with horse-dealers). 3 The leathern cover of a tradesman's daybook: also a side or half of any book-binding or pasteboard-cover. 4 A file-book, a frame, of two pasteboard-sides with a back, to receive letters which are pasted in. 5 Any congregate body; a dense mass or multitude: also a company, band, party, side. Hence 6 A number of villages viewed collectively. 7 A pack, parcel, lot (as of articles to be sold). 8 A common term for the pieces composing the circumference of a wheel. 9 (with jarācā) A skein of gold threads.
