Source: Wisdom Library: Āyurveda and botanyPicchilatā (पिच्छिलता, “viscousness”) refers to one of the attributes of kapha (one of the three biological humors, or tridoṣa). Picchilatā is characterised by firmness, stability and lubrication in tissues and joints. Kapha represents the “water element” of the human body and is situated in the śiras (head).
Āyurveda (आयुर्वेद, ayurveda) is a branch of Indian science dealing with medicine, herbalism, taxology, anatomy, surgery, alchemy and related topics. Traditional practice of Āyurveda in ancient India dates back to at least the first millenium BC. Literature is commonly written in Sanskrit using various poetic metres.
