Source: Shodhganga: Technical study of the dictionaries published in Sanskrit language since 1800 ADPathyāpathyavibodhanighaṇṭu (पथ्यापथ्यविबोधनिघण्टु) of Kaiyadeva (earlier than 17th C.A.D.) is a dictionary of terms relating to medicine and hygiene. A list of herbs, plants, vegetables, articles of food, etc., is given in the dictionary along with their medicinal properties, with a mention of substances suitable to health. The lexicon is classified into eight sections. There is also an additional section called misrakavarga.
Kosha (कोश, kośa) refers to Sanskrit lexicons intended to provide additional information regarding technical terms used in religion, philosophy and the various sciences (shastra). The oldest extant thesaurus (kosha) dates to the 4th century AD.
