Source: ORA: Amanaska (king of all yogas): A Critical Edition and Annotated Translation by Jason BirchParamalaya (परमलय) refers to the “supreme absorption”, according to the Bodhasāra, section 12, Layayoga 35.—Accordingly, “Because it is a cause of the [Yogin’s] forgetting of all [sense objects], fusing [the mind] in the [internal] resonance is the best of all the absorptions. For, it is the supreme absorption (paramalaya—paramo layaḥ)”.
Yoga is originally considered a branch of Hindu philosophy (astika), but both ancient and modern Yoga combine the physical, mental and spiritual. Yoga teaches various physical techniques also known as āsanas (postures), used for various purposes (eg., meditation, contemplation, relaxation).
